About

I am a Visual Communicator with a passion for Graphic Design, and particularly a keen interest within Typography, Branding and Print-Based Media Design. I have the ability, skill and enthusiasm to undertake and/or assist in a range of different projects, whether they are required digitally, or away from the computer.

With a key attention to detail and technical precision, all design work I have and continue to create has the care and attention I always strive to achieve.

George Smiley Novel Series - John le Carré

Cover designs of three selected novels involved in the series…

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

The cover looks at plans mentioned within the book of infiltrating the borders to retrieve information. A simplified barrier wall section is shown with the addition of arrows to form a basic war-table visual example.

The Looking Glass War

The cover depicts a scene of spies watching, via a simplified version of larger-than-life binoculars, a nearby watchtower on the borders. It also allows the viewer to gain perspective by looking through the ‘binoculars’ themselves.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

The cover focuses on perspective, allowing the viewer to look through a basic target and move between the five spies, to somewhat determine the ‘mole’, as outlined within the book.

(Note- The spine of the book is thinner than the actual thickness for which the cover would hold)

Papercraft Bugatti Veyron

Now this is impressive… and click here for the nets of the design to have a go and build it yourself. But it will take a long time to make though…

This week, in relation with their current issue, the creative review blog have been upload information about 3 papercraft toy designers and examples of their simply stunning work.

Its all relating to the ever-growing underground paper toy scene, which has constantly been expanding largely helped by social media. This has given opportunities for anyone to download templates and designs and make them.

The first is designer Tougui (Top 2 Images), a relatively new designer to the papercraft scene. His work involves straight-sided panelling for which illustrations are placed on. He was also responsible for a 7ft Papercraft Robot, which can be seen here.

Secondly, is graffiti artist Shin Tanaka (Middle 2 Images). He expands further on the boxed styling by incorporating curved areas, but for me the focus is on the beautifully illustrations which clearly present the skill in graffiti art for which he is considered for. Website- http://shin.co.nr/

Finally is my favourite of all three, Tetsuya Watabe (Bottom 2 Images). His animal and human papercrafts consider the structures of each with striaghts and curves to create in most cases accurate and realistic designs. Website- http://kamimodel.com/

Continuing from the previous post about Julien Vallée, here is another one of his astonishing projects. Designed for MTV One, Vallée collaborated with design studio Dixon-Baxi for this photo-shoot which consists of an exploding TV of music and entertainment images, entirely made from paper!

I have used this piece of design work for old paper-craft project work; I would love to experiment with this style again for future projects.
